Karan Johar and Kangana Ranaut's heated nepotism controversy took Bollywood by storm.
Is the big spat of in Bollywood over nepotism finally over? Have both Karan Johar and Kangana Ranaut patched up? These are the questions doing the rounds in tinsel town. It was their heated nepotism controversy that took Bollywood by storm and drew in all the top actors and actresses. But, now as per a Mumbai Mirror report, the ‘Queen’ actress will reunite with the filmmaker on his upcoming talent hunt show. Kangana will be appearing as a judge on India’s Next Superstar talent show with Karan Johar as a guest judge of the show.
When asked about her new role on the show and making an appearance with Karan Johar, Kangana said she is happy about it. “I am looking forward to being on the show. It is a professional commitment for which I’m being paid. What is delightful is that Karan is okay with doing the show with me and seems to be slowly warming up to me,” Kangana was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror. Kangana also cited the tagline of the show that proves that it is a platform for outsiders. ‘Na khandaan, na sifarish… Bollywood ko hai sirf talent ka intezaar’ is the tagline of the upcoming show. “I am the epitome of the tagline being a self-made woman and actress myself, which is precisely why the channel wants me,” she added.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview Karan too said that if the channel invited her, then he and his team would be happy to have her. “Our heart is big, our house is open to all. We will happily, lovingly and respectfully welcome her on the show,” the director was quoted saying by Mirror.
Kangana had to face a lot of backlash from the Hindi Film fraternity over her comments on Karan Johar. She sparked the infamous debate by calling Karan a “flagbearer of nepotism” during her appearance on his chat show Koffee With Karan in 2017. The spat then escalated into a battle of sexes after Karan hinted that Kangana may not have understood the meaning of nepotism. He also said that he is tired of seeing Kangana play the victim card and even suggested that she should quit Bollywood if she had a problem with how the industry functioned. Kangana then lashed out at the comment saying that she is not fighting Karan Johar, but male chauvinism. As per reports, she said that the film industry was not a small studio given to Karan by his father but belonged to every Indian and was highly recommended for outsiders like her.
