India is turning out to be the new favourite destination for international pop stars. While 23-year-old Justin Bieber is set to perform on May 10 at the DY Patil Stadium in front of about 60,000 people, Ed Sheeran also announced nine new venues for his 2017 world tour and India is one of them. Just like Bieber, Sheeran will be performing in Mumbai on November 19, his official website revealed. However, other details of the performance like time and venue are yet to be decided.

Sheeran is a British singer/songwriter famous for songs like ‘Sing’ and ‘Give me love’. His recent album (divide) was released in March 2017 and debuted at number one in the UK, the US and other major markets. The first two songs of the album, ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’, were released in January 2017 and became instant hits among music lovers. Interestingly, last year British band Coldplay performed on 19th November in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. It was the first time when Coldplay came to India and performed in front of about 80,000 people. The event also witnessed performances from ‘The Vamps’, Jay Z and Demi Lovato. Apart from this many Bollywood stars like AR Rahman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Arijit Singh also performed at the event.

Meanwhile, security has been heightened for Justin Bieber’s concert. Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale has confirmed the deployment of 500 personnel along with 25 officers to ensure proper security at the stadium, with drone cameras keeping a constant watch. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan sent his personal bodyguard Shera to ensure Bieber’s safety in the event which will be hosted by “Harry Potter” actress Elarica Johnson. The opening acts for Bieber’s gig include artists such as DJ Sartek, DJ Zaeden and Norwegian DJ Alan Walker.
