With box office collections of Rs 26.63 crore Day 1, Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ has become the superstar’s second-highest Day 1 grosser of his career.
The film has opened to packed houses, but nothing compared to what Shah Rukh Khan was pulling in with ‘Happy New Year’. Having said that, Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ is no laggard, keeping up with the pace-setter.
But this is not about others, we are looking at what Aamir Khan’s own movies managed to pull in, in terms of box office collections. Earlier, PK box office collections for opening day had been reported to be nearly Rs 30 crore and rectified later to Rs 26.63 crore.
On top of the heap is his immensely popular ‘Dhoom 3’, which had pulled in box office collections of Rs 36.22 cr. While ‘PK’ follows, the third on Aamir Khan’s personal all-time top movies list is ‘Talaash’ with Rs 13.50 cr and then comes the standout ‘3 Idiots’, which got Rs 12.78 cr. Last is ‘Dhobi Ghat’ which managed just Rs 3 cr.
For Raj Kumar Hirani, who has directed Aamir Khan in both ‘PK’ and ‘3 Idiots’, the former becomes the numero uno film in terms of box office collections.
