Uttarakhand Elections 2017: Chief Minister Harish Rawat alleged that PM Narendra Modi had engineered defection in the state and than lodged a complaint against him. Rawat said that as if being ‘burgled’ was not enough that now a complaint has also been registered against him. He questioned Modi government’s sense of justice for wrongly accusing him. He voiced his grievances at a public gathering in support of Congress nominee Rajendra Bhandari.
Comparing himself to millet Rawat said that he is like the mountain foodgrain; the more he is grounded he will emerger purer and better. Reminding people about the 2013 Uttarakhand flashfloods which left behind great devastation, he refreshed their memories about his contribution towards rebuilding of the state.
“We have recovered from the tragedy. Chardham yatra has been revived, roads have been rebuilt. The derailed economy of the state is also back on track. The per capita income is also increasing,” Rawat said.

In a rally which Narendra Modi addressed today in Pithoragarh, he slammed CM Rawat over many sins of omission and commission. In his campaign through Uttarakhand he accused Harish Rawat of opposing the creation of Uttarakhand. he also took a dig at him by saying that just like the state of Uttar Pradesh Congress and Samajwadi Party has a secret alliance and questioned the people if they would still vote for him.
