The thumping majority in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly elections has made things easier for BJP. The party would now have no problem during the Presidential election in July. Moreover, it is now self assured of getting to a more favourable position in the Rajya Sabha soon. All of these would help the BJP rework the balance of power to its advantage ahead of the next Parliamentary contest in 2019. BJP won57 out of 70 seats in Uttarakhand Assembly election. Ex-CM Harish Rawat also lost in the election, along with several big names in the state.
