On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during one of his rallies in Uttar Pradesh criticised chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi campaigning for rape accused party MLA Gayatri Prajapati. Addressing the Vijay Shanknaad rally in Bahraich, PM Modi said, “We chant Gayatri Mantra, Rahul and Akhilesh are chanting Gayatri Prajapati.” Further attacking the political duo, PM Modi said, “These two leaders (Rahul and Akhilesh) chant mantra of Gayatri Prajapati, instead of Gayatri Mantra. They have lost any fear of the people. Instead of arresting the rape accused MLA after the FIR, they are campaigning for them.”

Later in his speech, PM Modi talked about agenda of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if voted to power. He said, “Our aim is development and our vision is clear for the development of all classes of people. We have reduced the prices of medicines. Many ways come out when the government wants to work for the poor people genuinely.”

We have to work for the poor, not the ‘dhanna sets’ (rich), the PM said adding that corruption and black money can’t end unless both are ended simultaneously and that is why my government has launched a war against on both of them.

“I am not against small traders. But against those who have occupied high chairs and looted the country. My fight is against them, be it big leaders or babus. I need your blessings for this brothers and sisters. I have promised to the country to return whatever has been looted from the poor people of the country,” he added.

Later replying to Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘donkeys of Gujarat’ remark, PM Modi said that Akhilesh was afraid of the donkeys of Gujarat. “In elections, opponents criticise each other… Akhileshji I can understand if you attack Modi and BJP but I am amused that you have attacked donkeys…are you afraid of donkeys, that too these are thousands of kilometres away?” he said.

The incumbent CM had recently mocked at PM Modi and the BJP. In a rally he said, “There comes an advertisement on Television which features a donkey. I will ask the megastar of this century to stop campaigning for donkeys.” His comments were on a tourism advertisement for Gujarat featuring Amitabh Bachchan which promoted wild ass.
