PM Narendra Modi in his Varanasi speech today, extolled the virtues of powering up tourism in the state to provide employment opportunities to the people here as well as to drive all-round progress. PM Modi was speaking almost 3 hours after conducting a huge roadshow in Varanasi city where his cavalcade went from street to street to greet people. PM Modi threw all caution to winds as far as his security was concerned and from an open-top bullet-proof vehicle he waved and called out to the people on streets, balconies, windows and roof-tops as they craned forward to catch a glimpse of the premier canvassing for votes for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in the crucial assembly polls which was in its last phase now. PM Modi said that the current Samajwadi Party dispensation was looting the state and that if his party comes into power then he would throw out all wrongdoers ensure that the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh makes standout economic progress and would even provide a house for all by 2022. PM Modi then added that Centre provided the current government in the state with funds and advise but it was just not willing to listen or even use the funds in an efficient way. He said that not just corruption, the government was not even capable of using the funds to help the people and that most of the money was lost to corruption. He said that if the people of the state now want to be a part of the push towards the progress of the entire country, the current state of affairs has to be changed.

PM Modi provided a glimpse of what his vison entails. Saying that just one aspect of his agenda of development for the state included generation of jobs. PM Modi said that, take for example tourism. He said that the state is blessed with historical monuments, some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, and people who are willing to work hard. He said that he would ensure the tourism sector in the state flowers once his party comes to power. The spin-off after this policy is implemented and starts working, an all-around progress for the residents, at all levels, of this region will earn from it. PM Modi said, “The labourer will earn from this effort, the graduate will earn from it, and yes, even your humble chaiwalla will earn from it.”
