Gayatri had moved to Supreme Court for recall of its order, however, the court maintained its stand.
The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday raided the residence of tainted Samajwadi Party Minister Gayatri Prajapati, who is facing FIR for allegedly raping and molesting a woman for two years. The FIR was registered against Prajapati after intervention from the Supmere Court.
“Its part of investigation&will arrest him as soon as we are able to trace him,” Police said. On February 17, the apex court had directed the UP Police to register FIR against Prajapati and directed it to inquire and file an action taken report withing a time period of eight weeks in a sealed cover. Later, Gayatri moved to Supreme Court for recall of its order, however, the court maintained its stand.
Prajapati, whose involvement in these cases has been used by political opponents in election campaign in the poll-bound state, has claimed the entire row of being a “politically conspiracy” as the complainant was affiliated to the BJP. The leader, who sought a stay over his arrest, said that state Government had not put the actual facts in the right perspective before the apex court and false allegations were levelled against him. The woman’s counsel had argued that the UP Police had not taken any action on the complaint which was given to the Director General of the state police.

In a dramatic manner, the SP leader, while addressing a rally in Amethi, broke down and said that court will listen to him and do justice. Not only rape and molestation, SP minister Prajapati has multiple cases registered against him. In the past Prajapati was under Lokyukta scanner for the alleged misuse of his position to amass assets worth crores. Prajapati also formed the initial fulcrum of tussle between CM Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Yadav. The minister, considered close to Shivpal, was sacked twice by Akhilesh in three months.
