Political parties have kick-started high-decibel campaigning for the third phase of polling for Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2017. 69 constituencies will go to polls in third phase of voting which will be held on February 19. 826 candidates are in the fray for this phase which is crucial for BJP, Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance and BSP. The other four phases will be held on February 23 and 27 and on March 4 and 8. Results will be out on March 11. The first phase of UP polls in 73 assembly seats in UP witnessed 64.22 per cent turnout on February 11 – an increase of nearly three per cent from the first phase turnout in the 2012 state Assembly polls. Meanwhile, an impressive turnout of over 65 per cent was recorded in 67 Assembly constituencies across 11 districts of western Uttar Pradesh, figuring in the second phase of the crucial state polls yesterday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati will be the star campaigners and parties will bank on them to reach out to the people across the state.
