BJP's spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra has dug out a statement of Rahul Gandhi from March 2014 when he termed Narendra Modi's appointment as the Prime Minister of India 'a big threat to minor communities' especially Muslims.
Days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed government in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh after a landslide victory in Assembly polls, the saffron party has been targeted by the opposition on the appointment of Yogi Adityanath as the chief minister of the state. Referring to the issue, party’s spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra has dug out a statement of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi from 2014 when he termed Narendra Modi’s appointment as the Prime Minister of India ‘a big threat to minor communities’ especially Muslims. Patra quoted Rahul saying that if Modi Ji becomes PM, nearly 22,000 Muslims in the country will be killed. Speaking to Times Now, Patra further said, “The opposition parties, especially Congress, has been instilling threat perception among the minor community of the country.” He also questioned on where Rahul got the figure of 22,000 and taunted the Congress leader by saying ‘everyone know what Rahul Gandhi is.” He also stated that later the Congress VP was summoned by the Election Commission.
Further in his conversation with the news channel, Patra asked, “Why only talk of Muslims? Why not everyone?” He also said, “While PM Modi is fast moving towards new India, why are these opponents going to old India?” Patra has also accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of appeasing the Muslims.
