UP Minister, Gayatri Prajapati who has been accused in an alleged rape case of a minor girl has no relief the Supreme Court. The apex court has asked him to approach concerned court and has also released a statment saying, ‘let law take its own course’, according to a CNN News 18 report. Earlier in the week, a non-bailable warrant has been issued against the Samajwadi Party MLA and 6 others, where Prajapati was booked at the behest of the Supreme Court in the cases of alleged rape of a minor girl and alleged gangrape of her mother. Passports have been revoked of all the accused so that they cannot fly out of the country. SC says its order directing UP Police to lodge FIR against GayatriPrajapati is being given “political colour” & it is “unfortunate”.

Prajapati was present at a poll meeting of the party at Amethi which was addressed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav himself. This revelation sparked public outrage when Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought up the topic while addressing a rally at Varanasi on Saturday afternoon. He blamed Akhilesh Yadav for sleeping over the demand of justice by a daughter. He added that people of Uttar Pradesh have an opportunity to perform last rites of their tormentors by making BJP win.

“In this country, when we do something good, we chant the Gayatri Mantra. But, the SP-Congress alliance is chanting the Gayatri Prajapati Mantra. A case has been lodged against him (but) the Chief Minister went to campaign for him while he (Gayatri) was present there…Now, the police cannot trace him,” Modi said while addressing the rally.

He further said, “A daughter is seeking justice and the Chief Minister is shielding the gunehgaar (guilty)…What bigger blot can there be than this that in Uttar Pradesh when a buffalo goes missing, the government runs to find it. But, a girl is crying for justice and the police and Chief Minister are sleeping…Such a government needs to be punished.”
