While other safron party leaders also take oath as the cabinet minister of the state, BJP has offered ministry to many few leaders who joined the party from outside, days before the crucial election campaign.
As after much speculations, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) declared five times Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath as the new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath and his two deputy chief ministers Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Prasad Maurya today sworn in at an oath-taking ceremony administrated by governor Ram Naik at a function in Lucknow’s Kanshiram memorial ground. And while other safron party leaders also take oath as the cabinet minister of the state, BJP has offered ministry to many few leaders who joined the party from outside, days before the crucial election campaign.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party President Amit Shah. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, newly-elected Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister R. Singh, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Uma Bharti and Rajnath Singh also attended the ceremony.
Here are the list of a few cabinet ministers who joined the party just before the elections:
Dara Singh Chauhan: Former Bhaujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader, Chauhan represented Ghosi of Mau district in the 15th Lok Sabha election. The BSP leader who defeated BJP’s Harinarayan Rajbar during the 16th Lok Sabha election joined the safron party on February 2, 2015.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi: As the oath taking ceremony started, the first name that has emerged is of Rita Bhauguna Joshi who has been made a part of Yogi Adityanath’s council of Ministers. Bahuguna had served as the Mayor of Allahabad between 1995 to 2000. She held various positions in Congress and served as the president of the All India Mahila Congress since 2003. On 20th October 2016, Rita Bahuguna Joshi made a switch to BJP in presence of party President Amit Shah. She defeated Samajwadi Party’s Aparna Yadav in this year’s elections after spending 24 years in Congress.
Swami Prasad Maurya: Former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Swami Prasad Maurya, on August 8, 2016, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of party president Amit Shah. Massive supporter strength was witnessed during his induction at the BJP headquarters. Maurya, who was the leader of opposition in Uttar Pradesh state Assembly, had left the BSP on June 22.
Brijesh Pathak: Brijesh Pathak is another minister who was brought in BJP from BSP. He joins the list of outsiders who are now a part of the cabinet.
Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary: Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary is another Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader who left the Mayawati led party to join the safron party.
