Security and safety are top concerns of most female voters in Ghaziabad. A large number of women who turned up for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Wednesday rally slammed Akhilesh Yadav government over the issue of crime against women in the city. “Crime against women is the top issue for us, women are being harassed, brutalised and raped in broad daylight,” said 46-year-old Mamata Sharma who came from Muradnagar to Ghaziabad’s Kamala Nehru Nagar ground.
Beenu Pandey, a district BJP worker and Swachch Bharat Mission volunteer, said that the saffron party should be given a chance in this elections. “Law and order situation is a concern in Ghaziabad and entire Uttar Pradesh, every party has got a chance here except BJP, this time BJP should also be given a chance,” she said. Smriti Singh, a dentist, who turned up for the event, said: “The Samajwadi Party Government has done nothing accept crime, rape, and corruption in the state in past five years, I think this time BJP should be given a chance.”

Female students also raised the issue of safety along with the issue of job creation, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking the country forward, safety and security of women are core issues in Ghaziabad and I don’t think that anything will change till BJP doesn’t come to power,” said Prerna Tyagi, a law student. She added: “hardly any steps have been taken in Ghaziabad for job creation until now, Modi is taking country forward while UP is lagging behind. Youth need job security.”

The Ghaziabad Lok Sabha has 5 Legislative constituencies under it – Loni, Dhaulana, Muradanagar, Ghaziabad City, Sahibabad. BJP is looking to open its account in the district this year. In 2012 Assembly elections, the saffron party couldn’t win any seat out of five.
