The BJP has often slammed Digvijaya Singh for 'tarnishing the Hindu community' by using the term Hindu or saffron terror.
It is Digvijaya Singh vs Sadhvi Pragya again! Senior Congress leader and party candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat Digvijaya Singh courted controversy on Saturday when he was responding to a question from a journalist whether the elections will see polarisation on the Hindutva issue. In his reply, he said, “Why do you use the word Hindutva? The word does not exist in my dictionary.”

Singh is pitted against BJP candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur in Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, which is witnessing a fierce battle between the two leaders.
Pragya is an accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case and she is out on bail after National Investigation Agency (NIA) gave her a clean chit.
Digvijaya Singh has been leading the charge of “saffron terror” against the RSS after Sadhvi Pragya and Lt Col Shrikant Purohit were named in the charge sheet in the Malegaon blasts case.
Attacking the RSS, he sought to clarify his stand on Hindutva through a series of Twitter posts. “I am a firm believer of Hindu Dharma that has been enlightening the world for thousands of years. But I will never hand over my Dharma to Hindutva, which is an RSS’ conspiracy only to gain the power. I am proud of my religion that talks of Vasudev Kutumbakam,” Digvijaya Singh tweeted.

He also resolved that he would never let his religion fall prey to conspiracy of those who want to use it for political gains. “Sangh’s Hindutva is all about breaking the society. For me Hindu religion is a matter of faith. I believe in Hindu dharma and I am proud of it, but I won’t allow it to fall prey to the conspiracy of some who want to use my religion for their political gains,” he alleged.
Earlier on Friday, the Congress leader visited various Hanuman temples on Hanuman Janmotsava.
A few days ago when BJP announced Pragya’s candidature from Bhopal, Singh welcomed her and in a veiled dig at her, he commented, “I welcome Sadhvi Pragya ji in Bhopal. I hope she will like the peaceful, educated and civilised atmosphere of this idyllic city. I pray for Sadhvi ji from mother Narmada and seek the river’s blessings for all of us to keep treading on the path of truth, non-violence and dharma. Narmade Har!”
The BJP has often slammed Digvijaya Singh for ‘tarnishing the Hindu community’ by using the term Hindu or saffron terror. After the political row over the term Hindu terrorism, the Congress had pointed out that it was used by Union minister R K Singh when he was home secretary.
