Earlier today, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi addressed an election rally in Imphal, Manipur. RaGa talked about the developmental strategies he has in mind for the state and told people that he wants to see ‘Made in Manipur’ goods to be sold in the other parts of the world. He said, “Here (in Manipur) you grow nimbu, narangi (oranges), pineapple… I hope that such a day comes that when someone in London drinks pineapple juice, they look at the box and see ‘Made in Manipur’” He then told people to question Prime Minister Modi on his next trip to the state, “what has he done for the state”.

Rahul continued attacking PM Narendra Modi for not consulting the people of Manipur while taking a decision on the Naga Accord. He said, “PM Modi didn’t even talk to Okram Ibobi. No minister knew about what is there in Naga Accord, everything was in PM Modi’s mind. You must ask Modiji, when the Naga Accord was made, why were Manipuri people not consulted or spoken to?” He continues and said that noting is clear to anyone about the Accord. “Nothing is clear till now in this prepaid Naga Accord. At least make it clear what this Accord is about.What did you sign and what you didn’t. No one knows about it, except PM Modi,” said the Congress leader.
Rahul Gandhi wrapped up his rally by talking about the dreams that he has for Manipur and said, “I have two or three dreams about Manipur. You make handicraft products, furniture and pottery etc, and Manipur women have put their effort, love, and sweat in making good quality handicraft products. These are your strengths, and I want these things should be made stronger.”
Manipur Elections 2017 will elect the 60 members of the state Legislative Assembly, the result for which will be declared on March 11.
