Manipur floor test Live updates: Newly appointed Chief Minister of Manipur, Nongthombam Biren Singh who sworn in on March 16 has won the floor test today in the 60-member Manipur Legislative Assembly.

Newly appointed Chief Minister of Manipur, Nongthombam Biren Singh who sworn in on March 16 wins floor test today in the 60-member Manipur Legislative Assembly. Biren Singh is the Bharatiya Janata Party CM of the state. As BJP is adamant on forming a government in the state, all of its legislators along with an Independent and a Trinamool Congress lawmaker have been lodged in a Guwahati hotel since Thursday after the swearing in ceremony of the CM. The ministers who were inducted in the BJP-led ministry of Manipur includes two BJP MLAs (including CM), four MLAs of NPP, one from Naga People’s Front (NPF), one from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and a legislator of Congress who shifted to BJP. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won 21 seats, while Congress secured 24 seats in the Manipur Assembly Elections 2017, but with the help of other party MLAs BJP was able to form the state government.

15:20 PM: Ram Madhav also said, “First thing that our govt has achieved is good dialogue with ppl who were engaged in blockade & convincing them to lift it.”

15:05 PM: BJP leader Ram Madhav said, “Congratulations to CM Biren Singh & his team of ministers & MLAs for winning the trust vote today.”

14:55 PM: While talking about the border issue with Myanmar, the Manipur CM said that a committee has been former so that report can be given to Centre for them to solve issue by talking to their government.

14:40 PM: CM N.Biren Singh after winning the floor test in Assembly said, “I thank my team, it is not my success it is success of Modi Ji, BJP and people of Manipur”

13:30 PM: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, congratulates N Biren Singh on Twitter. He wrote, “Congratulations to Manipur CM Sh. N Biren Singh on winning the trust vote in the assembly. I am sure Manipur will prosper under his leadership.”

13:00 PM: Piyush Goyal, Prakash Javadekar congratulate N Biren Singh after winning the trust vote in the Manipur Assembly.

12: 30 PM: N Biren Singh becomes the first BJP Chief minister in Manipur after taking oath for the post on March 16. He proved his majority and won the floor test in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

11:35 AM: “There is nothing like fear of poaching by the Congress before the floor test. We are here just to relax and also meet some of our senior party leaders,” BJP lawmaker Thokchom Radheshyam Singh said according to a report in The Indian Express.

11:20 AM: According to reports, Himanta Birwa Sarma who was the key architect of BJP’s victory in Manipur said, “In the house of 60 in Manipur, BJP has the support of 33 MLAs now. Congress is now only 27. No confusion. It’s a clear majority.”

11: 05 AM: BJP MLA Yumnam Khemchand Singh has been elected as the speaker of the Manipur Assembly.

10: 50 AM: Congress MP Ripun Bora on Tuesday attacked BJP and said that the party is “murdering democracy all over the country.” He also said, “We got information that the BJP hijacked 5-6 Cong MLAs and took them to Guwahati. This is horse-trading.”
