Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and NCP chief Omar Abdullah has questioned Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s decision to revolve his campaign around Rafale. He said that the Congress will now have to think whether sticking onto Rafale and calling Prime Minister ‘chaowkidaar chor hai’ were the right call.

Abdullah may have hinted at this while asking the Congress to now introspect. He further said that he hopes the prime minister will take everyone along with the kind of majority he has got. The BJP-led NDA is heading for a landslide.

The NDA is ahead on 349 seats, while the Congress-led UPA is leading on 90. The BJP alone is leading on 296 seats whereas the Congress over 51 seats. Counting of votes is still underway.

Abdullah said that the exit polls were correct. “All that’s left is to congratulate the BJP & NDA for a stellar performance. Credit where credit is due PM Modi Sahib & Mr Amit Shah put together a winning alliance & a very professional campaign. Bring on the next five years,” he said.

Omar’s father Farooq Abdullah is all set to win from the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency. He expressed hope that the new government would do justice with the state and engage in a dialogue with Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue. “We hope the new government in Delhi will do justice with Jammu and Kashmir and engage in dialogue with Pakistan so that we are taken out of this morass,” he said.
