Lok Sabha Election: Last date to register as a voter in the electoral roll

Election Commission has normally kept a gap of 18-20 days between the last date of registration in electoral rolls and the polling date in the respective constituency.

Last date for voter registration! The poll process for electing the 17th Lok Sabha has finally started with the cabinet sending the recommendation to President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday. The notification for the first phase of polling scheduled for April 11 will be issued on March 18. All Indian citizens who turned 18 years on January 1 this year will get the opportunity to cast their votes if they have registered themselves in the electoral roll.

According to the latest official data, more than 900 million or 90 crore Indian citizens have been registered as an electorate and they will be able to exercise their democratic rights in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.

Election Commission has already revised and published electoral rolls in all the states and union territories with reference date of January 1, 2019. However, there is still opportunity for those Indian citizens who have not yet registered themselves in the electoral roll.

Election Commission said those people who have been left out can still register themselves in the electoral roll of the concerned constituency and cast their votes in the Lok Sabha election. Registration can be done till the last date of filing the nomination in the concerned Lok Sabha constituency.

How to register

Election Commission has urged all the eligible citizens those who have been left out to urgently register themselves either online through www.nvsp.in or offline through the Booth Level Officer (BLO). However, due to heavy rush, the voter registration portal is facing technical issues while loading the page. It is advisable to immediately approach the the concerned booth level officer of the Lok Sabha constituency and register offline.

The last date of registration for different phases

1st Phase: Date of Poll: April 11. Last Date of Registration as a Voter: March 25.

2nd Phase: Date of Poll: April 18. Last Date of Registration as a Voter: March 26.

3rd Phase: Date of Poll: April 23. Last Date of Registration as a Voter: April 4.

4th Phase: Date of Poll: April 29. Last Date of Registration as a Voter: April 9.

5th Phase: Date of Poll: May 6. Last Date of Registration as a Voter: April 18.

6th Phase: Date of Poll: May 12. Last Date of Registration as a Voter: April 23.

7th Phase: Date of Poll: May 19. Last Date of Registration as a Voter: April 29.
