Gujarat results highlights: BJP is leading in all 26 constituencies of the state.

Gujarat results, Gujarat Lok Sabha elections result Gujarat has been BJP’s stronghold since last three decades. In 2014, the BJP had won all the 26 Lok Sabha seats. This time again, the saffron party is hopeful of repeating its good show.

Gujarat Lok Sabha election results 2019 Highlights: The counting of votes for 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat is underway amid tight security. The trends at the moment are showing huge shot in the arm for saffron party as it is winning on all seats in the state. Even party president Amit Shah is leading by over 3,00,000 votes. The party it seems is making up from Gujarat on a number of seats it may lose in Uttar Pradesh. the party is also doing well from West Bengal. With the party all set to return to power at the centre along with other NDA allies, Amit Shah is expected to reach party headquarters in New Delhi later today.

The state which has been the BJP’s stronghold for the last three decades went to polls in a single phase on April 23. It recorded a turnout of 64.11%, the highest since 1976 when there was around 63.77% polling. In the previous general elections held in 2014, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, witnessed 63.66% voting. At that time, the BJP scored a 100%, winning all the 26 parliamentary seats. The main contenders from the BJP this time are Amit Shah from Gandhinagar and Union minister Jaswantsinh Bhabhor from Dahod. The Congress has fielded former Union minister Bharatsinh Solanki from Anand and its leader of opposition in the Assembly Paresh Dhanani from Amreli seat.

Counting of votes are being held at 28 centres across the state with elaborate security arrangements in place at all the counting centres. Earlier, Both the BJP and Congressclaimed that they will perform well but the exit polls have predicted that Modi is still the favourite of over six crore Gujaratis. The saffron party was predicted to win 24 seats.

    Gujarat election result 2019 LIVE: Over 8,000 polling staff deployed

    Over 8,000 polling staff has been deployed at the counting centres, the official said. Election authorities said declaration of results may get delayed by around three to four hours due to counting of voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) slips. VVPAT slips of five randomly selected Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be counted in every Assembly segment after EVM votes are counted, state's Chief Electoral Officer S Murali Krishna said.

    Counting to begin at 8 am

    Counting for Lok  Sabha Election will begin at 8 am in Gujarat. The state has 26 constituencies. All eyes are on BJP president Amit Shah who is contesting from Ahmedabad. He has replaced veteran BJP candidate LK Advani to contest from the seat. During the last Assembly polls, the state saw a close fight between the BJP and Congress. The saffron party then went on to retain the power in the state.    

    While Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has expressed confidence that the BJP will retain all the 26 seats, Congress' state unit chief Amit Chavda has claimed that his party will win at least 10 seats.In the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections, the Congress won 77 seats, its best tally since 1985, in 182 members House while the BJP bagged 99 and came to power for record sixth consecutive time. In this Lok Sabha elections, the Congress is hoping to repeat that performance and thus halting the BJP's winning streak.
