Gujarat Elections 2017: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted his third rally of the day while campaigning in Palitana, for the upcoming Gujarat elections targetted Congress VP Rahul Gandhi. During the speech at Palitana, Modi hailed Mahatma Gandhi and said that the people from Congress have a disconnect with the roots. “We have the legacy of Fakir Gandhi – the great Mahatma. They have the legacy of ‘royalty’. They were born with all privileges and are disconnected with the roots,” said PM Narendra Modi. “They hate development, they hate Gujarat, they hate Modi and now they hate sweat also. That is because they have never had to sweat it out in life and work hard. They are mocking everyone who works hard. This is their mindset. Such hatred for the poor is shocking,” PM Modi added.
Modi even lashed out at the Congress party for controlling the water tanker business at one time during their rule in the state. During the time of water shortage in the region, water tankers were brought in to fulfil the water crisis. During the speech, he said, “Do you remember the water shortage in the region? This is because Congress controlled the tanker business. It suited them to have this shortage.”
PM Modi hailed the BJP for changing the water crisis scenario. He said, “The BJP has changed this in the last 22 years. We have made the tanker industry irrelevant.”
During his speech, the PM revisited the time when he used to be the chief minister of Gujarat and had a tiff with Congress leaders over Narmada river. He said, “When I was Chief Minister I would plead to the Congress and Congress leaders in Gujarat to let us get the Narmada project moving and help our farmers but Congress was not interested.”
The BJP leader and the Prime Minister continued to slam the Congress party. He said, “If Congress was in power Narmada waters would never come here and the farmers would have been disadvantaged. Congress has tried everything possible to delay the project.”
Earlier today, while attending a rally in Prachi, PM said, “I have travelled to Saurashtra and South Gujarat. The enthusiasm is remarkable. I can see so many women who have come to bless us” In his speech, PM took a jibe at the Congress and said, “when Dr Rajendra Prasad was to come to inaugurate the Somnath Temple, Pandit Nehru expressed his displeasure. Sardar Patel dreamt about the Narmada but your family did not let that dream fulfill.”
