3:26 PM: The Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah arrived at the party headquarters in New Delhi amid a thunderous response. He showed the victory sign to the party workers:
3:23 PM: It is being reported that Congress candidate Ajit Chauhan has won from Balasinor in Mahisagar district, defeating Congress turncoat Mansinh Chauhan, who was the BJP candidate. Meanwhile, another Congress candidate Sukhram Rathwa wins in tribal seat of Jetpur in Chhota Udepur, defeating sitting MLA Jayanti Rathwa.
3:19 PM: Hardik Patel said that people of Gujarat have become very aware but added that there is a long way to go. Talking about his own political career, the Patidar leader said that he is just 23-year-old right now and will take a call after few months.
3:16 PM: Hardik Patel added that his job was only to lead the campaign against Bharatiya Janata Party. However, he added that ‘jo jeeta wohi sikander’. The 24-year-old leader added that more attention should be given to the issue of EVM tampering.
3:12 PM: Patidar leader Hardik Patel while addressing the media said that there has been tampering in EVMs in Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad, hence the gap is very less wherever tampering happened. He said that EVMs are hackable.
3:07 PM: Jignesh Mevani who is leading by 19,696 votes from Vadgam and has already won said that he will raise the voice of Gujarat’s discriminated sections in the assembly. “I express my gratitude to the people of Vadgam for all their support. Now I will raise the voice of Gujarat’s discriminated sections in the assembly,” he said.
3:04 PM: BJP’s Bharatbhai Kikubhai Patel won from Valsad by 4000 votes against Congress’ Tandel Jagubhai. Bhartiya Tribal Party President Mahesh Vasava, son of former JDU leader Chhotu Vasava, wins Dediapada constituency in Narmada district, defeating BJP sitting MLA Moti Vasava by 21700 votes.
3:00 PM: So far, the Bharatiya Janata Party has won 33 seats in the state and is leading on 65 other seats while Congress has won on 22 seats and is leading on 54 other seats.

Jasabhai Barad, who was minister of state for water supply in the outgoing government loses from Somnath seat.
1:44 PM: The sitting BJP MLA Ketan Inamdar has retained the Savli Assembly in Vadodara district seat by a margin of 41,219 votes. He defeated Congress candidate Sagar Brahmabhatt, son of former Lok Sabha MP Prakash Koko, who was with the Janta Dal at that time.
1:35 PM: Another former CEC Naveen Chawla said. “EVMs cannot be tampered with, even in the future. I am very clear about this. During my time, BJP had raised doubts on EVM so we had also held a demonstration like earlier this year for all to come and try rig it.”
1:32 PM: Amid counting, former Chief Election Commissioner of India, HS Brahma said, “I firmly believe that our EVMs, VVPATs cannot be tampered with. This matter should be closed once and for all as it is tried and tested. EVM is a standalone machine, question of hacking doesn’t arise.”
1:23 PM: The Bharatiya Janata Party has won on 9 seats so far and is leading on 101 seats in total while the Congress has won in 6 seats and is leading on 78 seats. BJP is past the majority mark but only by 9 seats.
1:19 PM: Another leader who was the face of Patidar campaign, Alpesh Thakore, 40 has won from Radhanpur, one of the largest constituencies in Gujarat. He was initially trailing but picked up soon to take a lead.
1:15 PM: In the Nandod Assembly Constituency of Narmada district, the sitting BJP MLA and State Minister for Forest and Tribal Development Shabdasharan Tadvi loses to Congress candidate Premsinh Vasava. BJP has managed to retain Jetpur Pavi- all ST constituencies.
1:08 PM: Congress is still fighting hard. It now leads on 76 seats while BJP is ahead on 102. In 2012, BJP had won 112 seats and this time Amit Shah had claimed that the party will win at least 150 seats. So, this is a highly impressive performance from Congress.
1:03 PM: In the Anand district, Congress won 5 seats while BJP won 2 seats. Congress retained Borsad, Anklav, Sojitra, Petlad while the Bharatiya Janata Party won Khambhat and Umreth. NCP candidate Jayant Patel, who was sitting MLA from Umreth lost.
12:56 PM: Congress President Rahul Gandhi reached the Parliament a few moments ago but didn’t respond to today’s election results. No response has come yet from Sonia Gandhi too.
12:52 PM: Congress has retained two important seats of Petlad and Sojitra Assembly Constituencies in Anand district as Niranjan Patel and Punam Parmar, respectively, won with comfortable margins.
12:47 PM: For the last 22 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party has ruled Gujarat and at the moment it seems like it will continue to do so for the next 5 years. Party leads on 105 seats now.
12:38 PM: “It is a matter of happiness for us, this is the victory of development,” says Union Minister Smriti Irani, on a question about Congress giving a tough fight she said, “jo jeeta wohi sikandar. It is victory of every booth worker’s hard work & the people who trusted development,” she added.
12:35 PM: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah for wins in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. He said that these wins are a proof that under PM Modi the nation’s development is going in the right direction.
12:27 PM: BJP has maintained its lead in 108 seats. “Casteist agenda of Hardik, Jignesh, Alpesh troika has helped Congress or cost it the election? 12:17 PM: BJP leader Anurag Thakur while talking to CNN-News 18 said that Gujarat loves Narendra Modi. “It’s not easy to remain in power. “Modi factor” worked in our favour,” he said.
12:15 PM: It is being reported that Congress has won in Sojitra Assembly constituency. Meanwhile, there can be a big upset for BJP in Anand Assembly constituency where party candidate Yogesh Patel is trailing behind Congress’ Kanti Soda Parmar.
12:10 PM: Congress leader Pawan Khera while speaking to CNN-News 18 said that the party had the courage to remove Mani Shankar Aiyar but why did Bharatiya Janata Party not take an action against Paresh Rawal.

12:05 PM: The BJP MLA from Talala seat in Gir Somnath district, Govind Parmar is on the brink of a heavy loss as his Congress challenger is leading by more than 30000 votes at the end of 18th round of counting. Congress leading the final round of counting in Matar in Kheda district.
11:58 AM: The Bharatiya Janata Party is now leading on 108 seats. Congress is ahead on 72. Meanwhile, Tajinder Bagga, BJP’s spokesperson celebrated by taking a mushroom cake to the party headquarters.

11:00 AM: In a major boost for the Bharatiya Janata Party, chief minister Vijay Rupani has won from Rajkot West. The Gujarat CM was trailing initially but made an impressive comeback to win. This is an important seat for BJP as Prime Minister Narendra Modi contested the first-ever election of his life from this constituency and won.
10:57 AM: It is being reported that BJP’s four-term sitting MLA Pankaj Desai is marching towards victory from Nadiad Assembly Constituency in Kheda district. 10:39 AM: BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain while speaking to ABP News said that the party went on to this election on the agenda of development and this will be a huge win for it. He, however, ruled out that Rahul Gandhi has emerged as a huge threat to the party. Hussain said that BJP contests with an aim to win all the seats.

9:35 AM: As per the latest data, BJP is now leading on 95 seats while Congress is ahead on 84. Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani is now leading by 1800 votes from Rajkot West. Meanwhile, BJP’s Jitu Vaghani, contesting from Bhavnagar West seat is leading by 2200 votes.
9:30 AM: Bharatiya Janata Party has once again taken the lead. It is now ahead on 89 seats while Congress is leading on 82 seats. Meanwhile, CM Vijay Rupani has finally taken lead from his seat. BJP is still 3 seats away from majority.

9:17 AM: As per the official figures given by the Election Commission for the 45 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party is now leading on 24 seats. Meanwhile, Congress is ahead on 21 seats. Meanwhile, Vijay Rupani is now behind by 800 votes.

8:45 AM: Congress leader Shakti Singh Gohil who was a major political face in this election is trailing. It is being reported that BJP has gone past the majority mark. Congress is ahead only on 58 seats. But, these are only initial trends.
8:42 AM: In a big surprise, Congress leader Alpesh Thakur is trailing from his constituency. Overall, BJP has taken lead in 85 seats while Congress is leading on 55 seats.
8:38 AM: The Bharatiya Janata Party has taken lead in 83 seats while Congress is ahead on 52 seats. From Budgam, independent candidate Jignesh Mevani is leading. In Saurashtra, Congress has taken a good lead.

8:31 AM: The current Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani has taken a lead in from his seat in Rajkot. From Mehrana, BJP’s Nitin Patel is trailing. The party has taken lead in 63 seats while Congress is ahead on 42.
