The political tension in the poll-bound state of Gujarat has intensified to a new level. Both, Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party have lashed out each other over multiple issues. In response to the Congress Party member Charan Singh’s comments on 2002 riots, BJP supremo Amit Shah has said that the Congress Party’s foundation in the Gujarat elections is on casteism. While speaking to the media in Gandhinagar, Amit Shah said, “Congress had laid the foundation of Gujarat election on casteism.” Shah also took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s temple visit. He said, “The would-be President of Congress started hopping from temple to temple. Congress has been the creator of polarisation in India.”
Earlier, Congress Party’s Charan Singh Sapra said, “PM Modi must go inside Jama Masjid & apologise for 2002 riots.” To this, Amit Shah said, “Entire nation knows the allegations levelled on Modi Ji by Congress backed NGO were all false and he is spotless. Yet for vote bank consolidation 2002 is being raised in 2017.”
Amit Shah also commented on Jignesh Mewani and Rahul Gandhi’s meeting. He said, “Pictures of Jignesh Mewani accepting money from Popular Front of India (PFI) has gone viral. PFI has always indulged in anti-national activities. Rahul Gandhi meets such a person who has relations with an anti-national outfit & Congress gives up its seat for him for vote bank consolidation.” He added, “Congress knew of his relations with PFI otherwise they would have given him a Congress ticket. They knew of the relations so they made him contest as an independent candidate and supported him from outside.”
Amit Shah also questioned the meeting of Pakistan’s envoy with former PM Manmohan Singh, former VP Hamid Ansari and Mani Shankar Aiyar. He said, “Right before Gujarat election, without informing MEA they are conducting a meeting with Pakistan envoy… I don’t know what message does it convey.”
Amit Shah also said, “Salman Nizami who has vowed for Kashmir’s ‘freedom’, is being launched for campaigning in Gujarat and this is being leaked for the consolidation of vote bank. People of Gujarat can see through the cunning ways of Congress.”
On December 9, the state of Gujarat witnessed the first phase of polling. The second phase of polling is due on December 14 and results of the elections will be declared on December 18.
