Dimple Yadav, a Samajwadi Party MP from Kannauj and wife of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, is wooing voters in Uttar Pradesh with the new promises and “achievements” of SP government in the state. But this one she made on Wednesday, is one dream which not only residents of UP but people across the country would like to realise. While addressing a rally in Agra, Dimple said, that SP government would turn the Taj City into Paris if voted back to power in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. Hindi Daily Dainik Jagran quoted her as saying this.
While Agra is already one of the most sought after tourist destination in the country, the facilities in Taj City are nowhere near world class, even as SP has been power in the state for last five years. But then, selling new dreams in the season of elections is a norm. Nothing wrong in this. And when a leader sells a dream like turning Agra into Paris, who wouldn’t like to listen, at least.
Accompanied by Bollywood actor and MP Jaya Bachchan, Dimple addressed three rallies in short speeches of around 10 minutes on Wednesday. “We will give you smartphones, pressure cookers, even pensions. Akhileshji is doing a lot for everyone. Bring him again to power,” IE quoted her as saying at one of the rallies.

The first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election would take place on February 11 while high-pitched campaigns would end today. Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance is pitted against BJP, BSP and RLD.
The catchy one liner “UP ko ye saath pasand hai” dotting the Uttar Pradesh skyline does not seem to be reflected on The alliance partners SP and Congress are, however, crossing swords in over a dozen Assembly seats.
Meanwhile, the nominations for the seventh and final phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly polls started today with
the issuance of notification for 40 assembly seats spread across seven districts. “The notification for seventh and final phase of polls has been issued today and nominations have started”, the office of the UP Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.
