Veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh was left red-faced while addressing a rally in Bhopal on Monday when a man he called up on the stage praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the surgical strike. A video of the incident has now gone viral.

The video shows Digvijaya Singh, who is a Congress candidate from Bhopal seat, addressing a rally in Berasia during which he was slams PM Modi for failing to fulfil 2014 promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh into bank accounts of people.

Kiske khaate mein Rs 15 lakh aa gaye, vo haath utha de. Tumhare khaate mein aa gaye? Aa jao. Aa jao, idhar aa jao. Hum tumhara hardik abhinandan karenge ki tumhaare khaate mein Rs 15 lakh aa gaye. (Those who have received Rs 15 lakh, raise your hands. You’ve got it…come here. You’ll be publicly felicitate you),” Divijaya Singh says.

A man in pink shirt walks on the stage and says,” Surgical strike kar diya Modiji ne. Atankvadiyo ko mara (Modi conducted surgical strike, killed terrorists).”

As soon as the man started praising PM Modi, Congress leaders on the stage intervened and pushed him off the stage. Embarrased by the man’s response, Digvijaya Singh says, “tere khaate mein Rs 15 lakh aaye ki nahi aaye? Surgical strike… Kya baat karte ho?” (Did you get Rs 15 lakh in your account or not. Surgical strike.. what are you talking.)”

Digvijaya Singh, the two-time Madhya Pradesh CM, is contesting against BJP candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur in the Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency where voting will take place on May 12. Counting of votes will be done on May 23.
