UGC NET Exam 2023: NTA announces dates for national eligibility test, exams to begin from Feb 21

National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced dates for conducting University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET). The exams will be held from February 21 to March 10, 2023. The agency has released dates for UGC-NET December session.

According to an official release, candidates can apply for the UGC NET examination through NTA’s official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The online application submission is open from December 29, 2022 till January 17, 2023. Candidates must note that the submission will not be accepted post 5 PM on the last date.

The test will be conducted for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ in 83 subjects in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, M Jagadesh Kumar, chairman, UGC, had announced.

He took to Twitter to make the announcement. “NTA has been entrusted by UGC for conducting UGC-NET, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘JRF and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges,” he wrote. Kumar also extended best wishes to the prospective candidates for the upcoming examination.

Here’s how to fill UGC NET application form: Step-by-step process:

Step 1: First visit the official website of UGC NET at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
Step 2: Then click on the link that reads, ‘Apply For UGC NET 2023’ available on the homepage of the website.
Step 3: After clicking on the link, candidates will be asked get themselves registered on the portal.
Step 4: Login using your credentials and fill up the application form.
Step 5: Upload scanned copies of all the required documents.
Step 6: Pay application fee.
Step 7: Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria:

General Category: 40% passing marks in both papers (total)
SC, ST, PwD and OBC-NCL Category: 35% passing marks in both papers (Total).
