Girls outsmart boys once again in Gujarat board's Class XII examinations (PTI)

GSHSEB Class 12 results 2017: Girls once again outsmarted boys in the Std XII general stream of the Gujarat Board examinations. The results that were declared today, revealed that the pass percentage of girls was 70.88 percent in comparison to the 47.28 percent of boys, bringing the total pass percentage down to 56.82 percent, PTI reported. Results of the XII general stream of the examinations were announced today on the official website of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).

According to the report, a total of 2,81,256 students (56.82%) had passed out of the 5.05,651 who had appeared in the papers (regular and repeat included). A senior official told PTI that the pass percentage was a little higher than the 55.85% recorded last year. According to the report, Surat recorded the highest pass percentage in the state with 73.85. A sum total of 257 students recorded more than 90% while 80,172 others scored between 51-60%. Earlier, girls had also topped boys in matters of the class X results of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) with 73.33% against the 64.695 scored by boys. Although both parties recorded an increase of nearly 1% in the pass percentage in comparison to last year, the gap was still maintained at 8.64%.

A total of 7,75,013 regular students had appeared the Class X examinations in the 876 centres across the state, out of which 5,28,870 passed and eligible to receive the qualifying certificate of secondary examinations. Meanwhile,e of the 2,46,610 repeaters who appeared the paper this year, only 33,385 cleared the examinations. According to the Indian Express, only 2,989 students among the 42822 candidates who had appeared the open board and external examinations had passed, thus bringing the overall pass percentage down to 53.10% for a total of 10,64,445 candidates.
