SC sets aside land acquisition for Nano plant

The SC on Wednesday quashed the acquisition of 997.11 acres in Singur in 2006 for setting up the Tata Motors’ small car Nano plant, reports fe Bureau in New Delhi.

The SC on Wednesday quashed the acquisition of 997.11 acres in Singur in 2006 for setting up the Tata Motors’ small car Nano plant, reports fe Bureau in New Delhi. The court ordered the land be returned to farmers in 12 weeks and that compensation provided then not be recovered as they were deprived of the use of the land for 10 years. The judgment does not have any immediate impact on Tata Motors as its car plant was relocated to Sanand in Gujarat in 2008.
