The Mahanadi Basin Power is proposing to set up a 2X800 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Sundargarh district with an investment of R8,000 crore. The Kolkata-based Emami Group is proposing to have a cement manufacturing facility of 1.5-million-tonne-per-annum capacity with an investment of R401 crore. Emami Cement plans to put up the plant in Begunia tehsil of Khurda district. While Shree Cement is proposing to have a 3-mtpa cement-grinding unit with an investment of R452 crore at Odapada tehsil of Dhenkanal district, My Home Industries plans to set up a 1.5 mtpa cement grinding unit with an investment of R360 crore at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district. GC Pati, the state chief secretary who also heads the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority, said that the four proposals have been approved with the condition of compliance to environment and pollution regulations.
