Mumbai rains failed to display a superb performance during the first few days. Until a few days ago, it seemed like Mumbai would fail to achieve its massive monthly rainfall target.
Mumbai rains have finally picked up pace. The city has recorded three digit rains on two occasions since June 20. Also, during the last seven days, Mumbai has recorded rains in double digit al throughout barring a day when 2.8 mm rainfall was received, Skymet said.
According to Skymet, so far Mumbai has recorded 498 mm of rain against its monthly average of 523.1 mm of rain. With about three more days left in June and two Monsoon systems to give rain over the region, it looks like Mumbai may easily surpass its monthly rains. In fact, there are fair chances of the city even exceeding its monthly average rainfall.
Mumbai continues to receive rain during the morning hours as well.
Skymet expects, the city is likely to receive more rains during the next 24 hours. Overcast sky conditions will prevail over the city and weather conditions will remain pleasant.
According to IMD, monsoon has covered more areas of MP, Gujarat and east Rajasthan.
Punjab, Delhi and Haryana will have to wait a few days for monsoon rains, according to the weather forecaster.
