Modi at Global Investors’ Summit Mumbai: Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani today addressed a gathering at the Global Investors’ Summit in Mumbai. The summit is also being attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tata group veteran Ratan Tata, business magnate Richard Branson, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and others. These and other business leaders spoke at the ‘Magnetic Maharashtra: Convergence 2018’ event today that was being held at the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai. Reliance Industries chairman while addressing the gathering today said that Mumbai is Reliance’s ‘Janambhumi’ and my ‘Karambhumi’. He further talked about how the Jio movement started in the state and reached the heights where it is today.
Reliance will make a new Jio movement in Maharashtra. It is going to transform the world and society. It is a new initiative for ‘New India’, said Ambani. He added that Reliance’s new projects will strengthen partnership with Mumbai in the future.
Virgin group Chief Richard Branson while addressing the gathering said that he is ‘Happy to be in Maharashtra with Virgin hyperloop Team’ to showcase ways in which transport services, as well as society, can be transformed. Following Branson, Tata chief took the stage. It is a great privilege to be here. Tata’s industrial empire began in 1877. Jamshedji Tata built the first textile industry in Nagpur, said Ratan Tata. He added, “Maharashtra stands to be a state that defines excellence, be it Nagpur, Pune, Aurangabad, says Ratan Tata. Maharashtra’s future is a rosy one.”
Mahindra chief Anand Mahindra also addressed the gather and said, “Mahindras felt the pull of Magnetic Maharashtra.” He added, “Mumbai is a jewel in Maharashtra’s crown. Maharashtra has the ‘Brahmastra’ to grow and develop, added Anand Mahindra. Mahindra applauded CM Devendra Fadnavis.”
In his speech, PM Modi said, “This event is a brilliant example of competitive cooperative federalism.” He highlighted the good work being done in various states of India regarding attracting investment. He said, “There is great competition between states to encourage investments. All state governments are focussing on it. The same is happening in North East. This would have been unimaginable a few years ago. I congratulate all of them.” The PM had special praise for Maharashtra government. He said, “I congratulate Maharastra government for transforming the investment climate over the last three years. The same applies for ease of doing business here.” he added, “Devendra Fadnavis government has led to the transformation of Maharashtra. In the last three years, Maharashtra govt has taken unprecedented steps to strengthen the investment environment. Continuous efforts of state govt have helped to make record changes in World Bank’s Ease to Doing Business ranking.”
On Centre’s steps to boost the economy, PM said, “We believe potential, policy, planning and performance leads to progress. Our budget is not limited to outlay, focus of our budget is not limited to output, focus of our budget is on outcome.”
