Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has appointed an international consortium led by AECOM Asia, Hong Kong, as the general consultants for the 33.5-km fully underground Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro corridor, it said in a statement on Friday.
The appointment of the general consultants is in line with the agreement made with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at the time of loan appraisal regarding the quality-and-cost-based selection.
The consultants were selected from four international contenders, and will assist MMRC in all activities of the Metro project’s implementation. The responsibility of the general consultants would include evaluation of bids for civil work and assist in appointing contractors, review and proof checking of detailed designs, preparing tender design and documents for procurement of track work, rolling stock, system components, supervision of supply and installation, system integration, testing and commissioning of system components, supervise works and ensure safety, quality and environmental aspects. The general consultants will also finalise operation and maintenance manuals etc. among other.
The authority implementing the project, earlier this week had received bids from nine consortiums for the construction of the corridor.
