Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa on Sunday requested Union finance minister Arun Jaitley to sanction an additional Rs 2,000 crore immediately to enable the state government to sustain the vigour of the restoration operations.
Thanking the central government for the release of Rs 1,000 crore from National Disaster Response Fund on December 3, she told the visiting finance minister that the state’s requirements are much larger and the government was preparing a supplementary memorandum detailing the devastation caused after November 23, where the first memorandum estimated the requirement at R8,481crore.
