Japan looks towards ASEAN and India for business expansion

Tokyo-based leading manufacturing company of consumer electronics, Casio Computer established subsidiary in Thailand – the largest market in ASEAN.

Casio has strengthened relationship with Thailand with the introduction of Casio Marketing Thailand.

Hiroshi Nakamura, Senior Executive Managing Officer, Casio Computer Co., Ltd., said, “Casio has been selling products in Thailand for many years, but now, we want to quickly respond to the needs of Thai customers, by conducting marketing activities more closely tied to communities here.”

Casio Marketing Thailand was established in July last year, as the fourth subsidiary of Casio in the ASEAN region.

The company first established ASEAN regional headquarter in Singapore in 2001 and expanded its sales offices to Indonesia in 2011 and Malaysia in 2014.

Casio has been promoting its products and brands through its distributor networks in Thailand since the 1970s.

The establishment of the marketing company here in Thailand will surely contribute to the strengthening the vital relationship between the two countries.”

Casio brand are most famous for it’s best selling G-SHOCK, with total sales of over 80 million units since it’s first sales in 1983.

Casio introduced the new model of G-SHOCK MTG series, which added to Casio’s “Global Time Sync” collection, featuring world’s first “GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor Technology” which utilizes radio wave time calibration and GPS signals for instant and precise timekeeping across the changing time zones.

Casio is also a market pioneer for the next generation projector.

The company currently holds 87.8 per cent share of Laser and LED hybrid light source projectors, and has expanded their lineups of lamp-free projectors to offer low-energy consumption and mercury free, safe to environment.

On the other hand, we globally produce variety of products such as scientific calculators, digital cameras, data projectors and musical instruments. I think there are great potentials in ASEAN regions for our products. We are aiming to expand our activities to these range of products, based on local needs, focusing more for education in this region.”

The Shimadzu Global Pharma Summit 2015 was recently held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The summit is a flagship event organised by Japanese analytical instrument manufacturer, Shimadzu Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.

Akira Nakamoto, Chairman, Shimadzu Corporation Japan, said, “Shimadzu, together with our clients, have been deeply involved in the compliance issues, and would like to share our thought and help to contribute towards compliance of each and everyone of you.”

The event, which started in 2007 and is currently in its 5th edition, is aimed to demonstrate the emerging drug development models and analytical technologies, by inviting total 200 top opinion leaders in the domain of Pharmaceutical development.

The conference is themed as “Face Regulatory Challenges with Confidence”

Speakers from Japan, the US, Europe, China and APAC regions delivered up-to-date overviews regarding the various regulatory challenges, and how today’s state-of-the-art technologies are enabling the Pharmaceutical firms in the process of drug development.

Dr. Dave (Dai) Li, Founder, Next BioResearch Services, LLC, said, “I think Shimadzu is truly amazing, offering this learning opportunity for us, also to learn from each other.”

Chinmoy Roy, Subject Matter Expert, US FDA, “This interaction is very helpful to the industry, which is always coming up with new drugs, and always coming up with new ways of testing them in the Lab. Dr. Richard Gallagher, Head (Biotransformation Group) at Astra Zeneca, said, “I used to work for Shimadzu many years ago actually, so it’s nice to come back after 20 years to see how the company has just developed to over the time. It’s very impressive and send them on the new projects to. it’s very exciting.”

The participants also visited Shimadzu Asia Pacific’s customer support centre in Singapore.

Kiminobu Imura, Managing Director, Shimadzu Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, said, “For 140 years since established, Shimadzu have developed numbers of analytical instruments first in Japan and the world. We will continue to develop cutting edge instruments to support new drug development and product assurance.”

They studied the latest analytical instruments, with Shimadzu’s trained application chemists.
