India, Korea to review FTA today

India and South Korea will review on Saturday their free trade agreement (FTA), formally called Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), to further boost bilateral trade.

Speaking at a function organised jointly by Ficci and Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency on Friday, commerce and industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “We hope to do an intensive exercise so that it can be concluded in the favour of both the countries. It will require quite a few assessments of the benefits…under the existing CEPA.”

Hyunghwan Joo, S Korea’s minister for trade and industry, said both the sides need to strengthen their institutional foundations of trade and investments by upgrading the CEPA.
