With an aim to soon come out with 5G network, government is finalising a foolproof roadmap, PTI quoted an unidentified government official. India’s 5G roadmap will be unveiled by June this year, PTI quoted Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan saying an Assocham event on Friday. The standards around 5G are expected to be finalised this year all across the world. A high level committee has been set up by the ministry to work on the 5G roadmap in order to provide India access to the next generation technology when it’s available for commercial roll out all across the world, PTI reported.
“In the 5G we are looking to do lot of pilots. So when 5G hits India will be at leading edge of technology as well as used cases,” PTI quoted Sundararajan as saying. A numbering scheme for SIMs will be framed by the department of telecommunication (DoT). The new numbering scheme will be used for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications.
A large number of capabilities will be built in the country in the coming one year and their roll out and the approaching months will also see actual roll out of M2M, PTI quoted Sundararajan as saying.
In Budget 2018 too, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced that the government has allocated an amount of Rs 10,000 crore for the telecom industry to make them ready for the 5G adoption as early as possible. India’s telecom industry will get a makeover as it will prepare the telecom ecosystem in India for the 5G adoption, which is almost ready to be rolled out.
