GSM subscribers rise by 6.35 m to 711.55 m in April

Bihar saw the higest GSM subscriber addition at 1.14 million, while UP (East) recorded the highest number of GSM users at 63.70 million.

The number of GSM subscribers rose by 6.35 million to 711.55 million in April 2015 over previous month. Telecom operator Bharti Airtel added 2.23 million GSM customers to take a considerable lead in market share over its rivals.

According to a release by Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Bharti Airtel had the highest number of GSM subscribers at 228.25 million at the end of April. Bharti Airtel, which had a 32.08% market share at the end of April among GSM users, lead among the operators. The Sunil Mittal-controlled telco lead in market share over Vodafone India (25.94%) and Idea Cellular (22.37%).
