The ex-servicemen raised the demand for the implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) policy on Sunday during a marathon run held to mark the occasion of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ here.

“Vijay Diwas is celebrated to honour those soldiers who fought for the nation during Kargil conflict. We have organised a run to pay tribute to those soldiers from Dhaula Kuan to India Gate…We also have a message that those soldier should get their right and that is OROP policy,” said one of the participants of the marathon.

“We are fighting for our right, OROP is our right. We have been waiting patiently for a long time, now we will come on the streets,” said an ex serviceman.

The OROP scheme has been a long-standing demand of ex-servicemen’s associations and relates to payment of uniform pension to defence forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
