Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) gave an approval to the Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kawarvadavali metro line in a meeting chaired by Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday. The authority approved a detailed project report (DPR) prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the 32-km Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kawarvadavali Metro-4 corridor with a completion cost of R14,549 crore, a press statement said.

With an aim to complete the project by 2021, the authority has now recommended the project to the state government for final approval. This project will help connect the Thane area with the city of Mumbai, with a modern public transport system and would lead to more development in the areas around the corridor.
