Labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Monday flayed the Congress and the Left for stalling important labour-related legislation in Parliament. The veteran BJP leader, who was to table as many as nine Bills, has not been able to initiate discussion on any of them for passage so far because of frequent disruptions of both the Houses.

However, he exuded optimism that the Payment of Bonus (Amendment) Bill, 2015, introduced in the Lok Sabha last week and the Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Amendment Bill, already introduced in Rajya Sabha, would “definitely” be passed in the current session which goes sine die on December 23. The Labour Code on Wages, which is yet to get the Cabinet nod, would also likely be introduced in this session.
