Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar on Saturday said that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had expressed her appreciation for New Delhi’s Neighbourhood First policy.
“The Prime Minister of Bangladesh expressed her appreciation for our Neighbourhood First policy. Many agreements were signed by the two nations. Initiatives were also taken in trade and investment sector,”
Jaishankar said at a media briefing here.
The Foreign Secretary further also hailed the cooperation between the two neighbours on the security front.
“A particular source of satisfaction for both of us should be a second concessional LOC that was agreed on. The quantum of this LoC is USD 2 billion. The cooperation that we have given each other on security front has truly been exemplary,” he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day tour of Bangladesh, witnessed the exchange of Instruments of Ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement along with Prime Minister Hasina earlier today.
India and Bangladesh also signed 22 agreements and MoUs for co-operation in areas of trade, investment, education, climate change and Information and Communication Technology.
