Rating agency India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) has maintained a negative outlook on the infrastructure sector for FY18. The negative outlook is also on the three sub-sectors which include roads, thermal and wind, which continue to pull the overall sector outlook down. However, favourable policy actions by the government and strong passenger growth has driven the outlook to positive for airports for FY18.

Releasing a report on the infrastructure sector, Venkatraman Rajaraman, senior director, infrastructure and project finance, India Ratings, said the sector continued to face headwinds with some sub-segments doing better. It has maintained a negative outlook on toll roads for FY18, on the expectation of sluggish traffic growth compounded by a subdued Wholesale Price Index.
