39th spot in Global competitiveness index signals Indian economy’s potential, says FM Arun Jaitley

Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, on Wednesday, addressed the media about the India's position in the Global competitiveness index report by the World Economic forum.

Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, on Wednesday, addressed the media about the India’s position in the Global competitiveness index report by the World Economic forum. Jaitley said that India has jumped 16 places to rank 39 in the global competition index. He was of the opinion that the jump in ranking signals the competitiveness in Indian economy. He stated that China ranks slightly ahead of India, among all the BRICS nations. India has risen 32 spots in the last 2 years in World Economic Forum’s Competitive Index.

Meanwhile, the Department of Economic affairs secretary, Shakikanta Das said that the department will work towards addressing the areas underlined in the World Economic Forum’s report. talking about India’s 16 places jump to the 39th spot in the rankings, he said that it was a result of the reform initiatives taken by the government.
