The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to examine pleas by Loop Telecom (LTL) and Essar Group director Vikas Saraf, facing trial in a case arising out of the 2G scam probe, seeking settlement of their criminal cases through Lok Adalat.

A bench headed by Justice JS Khehar posted the matter for final hearing on November 18. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appearing for LTL had argued that the firm was facing trial for the alleged offence under Section 420 (cheating) read with 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and these offences are compoundable.
