The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has partnered with Rapido to promote awareness about the government’s Rahveer Scheme, which encourages bystanders to assist road accident victims during the critical “Golden Hour,” according to an official statement.
The collaboration was announced in the presence of Nitin Gadkari and senior ministry officials. The initiative aims to leverage digital platforms and large mobility networks to spread awareness about road safety and the importance of timely assistance to accident victims across the country.
As part of the campaign launch, more than four lakh Rapido captains and users participated in the Rahveer Pledge initiative. According to the company, the campaign resulted in a Guinness World Record. The pledge encouraged participants to support accident victims and take responsible action during emergencies.
India continues to record one of the highest numbers of road accident deaths globally, prompting policymakers to focus on measures that can improve survival rates immediately after a crash. Road safety experts have consistently highlighted the significance of the Golden Hour – the first hour following an accident – when prompt medical intervention can substantially improve a victim’s chances of survival.
The Rahveer Scheme is part of the government’s broader efforts to encourage citizens to assist road accident victims without fear of legal or procedural complications.
Under the partnership, Rapido aims to integrate road safety messaging across its digital ecosystem through in-app awareness campaigns, social media outreach and engagement programmes for its captains.
