An alleged attempt to derail train no. 75302 on Monday involved placing a large rock on the tracks of the Bareilly-Pilibhit line near Bijauria railway station, officials said on Wednesday. The train was not significantly damaged, with only a bent rail guard reported, and fortunately, no injuries occurred during the incident.

In the incident, the rock split into two pieces after being struck by the engine of train no. 75302, which was traveling from Tanakpur to Bareilly City on Monday. Sanjeev Sharma, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) of Izzatnagar, confirmed, “An FIR has been filed to prevent such incidents in the future.”

The passenger train, which departed from Shahi railway station at 5:45 pm on Monday, was on its way to Bijauria station when it struck the rock, causing a loud noise that startled passengers. The train was immediately stopped at Bijauria railway station, and authorities were promptly notified.

Officials, along with the Government Railway Police (GRP) from Pilibhit, arrived at the scene to investigate the matter.

Senior Section Engineer of Pilibhit Railways, Netrapal Singh, filed a complaint at Nawabganj police station late on Tuesday night. Based on this complaint, a case has been registered under Section 150 of the Railways Act, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible, according to Station House Officer (SHO) Rajkumar Sharma.

Monitoring teams noticed a bent rail guard on the engine, prompting further checks of the tracks. The swift action of railway personnel and local authorities helped control the situation, allowing the train to continue its journey after an inspection. The investigation is still ongoing.
