Special trains have been announced on the busy Bengaluru-Kerala corridor ahead of the Onam. These special services are scheduled between Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram North on select date in August. Southern Railway, in a post on X, announced special trains 06575/06576 and 06579/06580 to cater to the festive rush. These special trains will run between August 22 and August 30, giving travellers additional options to reach several key destinations across Kerala.
The latest update for the passengers is the booking window, as per the official announcement, reservations for trains 06575/06576 and 06579/06580 will commence at 8 am on August 21, 2026, from the Southern Railway end.
Terming it “Onam travel made easier,” Southern Railway said the special services will interlink Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram North during the festive rush.
Along the way, the trains will serve major Kerala stations including Palakkad, Aluva, Kottayam, Thrissur, Chengannur, Ernakulam Town, Kayankulam, Chengannur and Varkala.
Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram special on August 22
Train 06575 SMVT Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram North Express Special will leave SMVT Bengaluru at 4:40 pm on Saturday, August 22 and reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 10 am on Sunday, August 23. It will operate for one service.
The return service, Train 06576 Thiruvananthapuram North-Bengaluru Cantonment Express Special will leave Thiruvananthapuram North at 12:40 pm on Sunday, August 23 and arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 5:15 am on Monday, August 24.
The train will have one AC Two Tier coach, three AC Three Tier coaches, 10 Sleeper Class coaches and four General Second Class coaches, along with two luggage-cum brake vans.
Second Onam special from Bengaluru on August 28
Another pair of special trains will operate later in the month. Train 06579 Bengaluru Cantonment-Thiruvananthapuram North Express Special will leave Bengaluru Cantonment at 4:40 pm on Friday, August 28. It will arrive at Thiruvananthapuram North at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 29.
In the return direction, Train 06580 Thiruvananthapuram North-Bengaluru Cantonment Express Special will leave Thiruvananthapuram North at 12:40 pm on Saturday, August 29. It will arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 5:15 am on Sunday, August 30.
This pair will also operate one service in each direction and will consist of same coach composition.

Train will stop at Bengaluru Cantonment, Salem, Bangarapet, Kuppam, Krishnarajapuram, Erode, Podanur, Erode, Podanur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chengannur, Kayankulam, Changanassery, Kollam, Mavelikara, Tiruvalla, Varkala, Karunagappalli, Sasthankotta and Thiruvananthapuram North.
Train 06575 originates at SMVT Bengaluru, whereas 06579 originates at Bengaluru Cantonment.
