Tatkal Ticket Booking: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) took to social media and clarified that there have been no changes to the booking timing for tatkal and premium tatkal ticketing services. This came after some social media posts claimed that the timings have changed to the tatkal ticket system from April 15.

IRCTC said on X, “Some information is circulating on social media platforms mentioning different timings for Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets. There is no such change in timing currently proposed in the Tatkal or Premium Tatkal booking timing for AC or Non-AC classes.” It also added, “Permitted booking timing for agents also remains unchanged.”

Further clarifying, IRCTC stated, “E-tickets for Tatkal can be booked for selective trains one day in advance, excluding the day of the journey from the train’s originating station.”

According to the IRCTC, “the booking timing will be same, and tickets can be booked on the opening day from 10:00 hrs for AC class (2A/3A/CC/EC/3E) and at 11:00 hrs for Non-AC (SL/FC/2S).”

IRCTC also confirmed, “If a train is scheduled to depart from the originating station on August 2, Tatkal booking for AC classes will begin at 10:00 AM, while booking for Non-AC classes will start at 11:00 AM on August 1.”

IRCTC stated that the “Tatkal booking facility offers confirmed or waitlisted tickets against the Tatkal quota in any class except 1AC for travel between source/remote stations having a Tatkal quota to the destination.”

The platform also elucidates that a maximum of four passengers can be booked under one PNR on a Tatkal e-ticket. ITCTC said that tatkal charges for passengers are in addition to normal tickets.
