The first trainset of Amrit Bharat 3.0 has rolled out from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, marking a major upgrade to Indian Railways’ affordable long-distance train service. According to The Indian Express , the new trainset combines air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned coaches, unlike the existing Amrit Bharat services.
The first trainset has been dispatched from ICF, as per the report. However, its operating route has not been decided yet.
Amrit Bharat 3.0 Trainset to have 22 coaches
According to Indian Express, the first Amrit Bharat 3.0 rake consists of 22 coaches with multiple travel classes. The trainset has six Third AC coaches, two Second AC coaches and one First AC coach. It also includes six Sleeper Class coaches and four General Class coaches.
The remaining coaches comprise one Pantry Car, one Power Car and one Divyangjan-cum-Guard Brake Van. The addition of AC coaches is a major change in this latest version. At present, around 60 Amrit Bharat Express services are operating across the Indian Railways network.
New Interior Design for Amrit Bharat 3.0
As reported by Indian Express, the third generation of Amrit Bharat trains has been developed using the experience gained from the earlier Amrit Bharat 1.0 and 2.0 versions.
The new coaches feature refreshed interior colour themes. The coordinated design extends to several elements, including PVC flooring, seat and berth rexine, curtains, snack tables and lavatory areas.
According to the Railway Ministry statement cited by Indian Express, the updated colour scheme aims to give the coaches a modern and uniform appearance while also supporting durability and easier maintenance.
Coaches meet HL3 Fire Safety Standards
Safety has also been given attention in the new trainset. The reports stated that the materials used in the coaches comply with HL3 fire safety standards, providing an additional focus on passenger safety.
