Yamaha Motor India plans to consolidate its operations into two focused entities.

Currently, Yamaha operates in India through four separate entities, India Yamaha Motor (IYM), Yamaha Motor India Sales (YMIS), Yamaha Motor Research & Development India (YMRI) and Yamaha Motor India (YMI).

Unified Business Operations

Under the proposed restructuring, YMIS and YMI will be merged into IYM, bringing sales, marketing, finance, corporate and administrative functions, along with the company’s entire manufacturing operations, under a single unified structure.

YMRI will continue as an independent and dedicated R&D entity, working closely with IYM to drive advanced engineering, product development and future-ready mobility solutions.

Strategic Decision Making

Yamaha said the move would improve decision-making speed and better align operations with its long-term India strategy. Hajime Aota, Chairman of the Yamaha Motor India Group, will also assume the role of Managing Director of IYM, overseeing the consolidated business. Junpei Inagaki, who currently heads YMRI, will continue as Managing Director of the R&D arm.

The company said the restructuring would have no impact on customers, dealers, partners or employees. The proposed reorganisation is subject to approvals from Indian regulatory authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
