Tata Capital on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Resona Bank to help Japanese companies tap opportunities in the Indian market.

Under this non-exclusive collaboration, Resona Bank will leverage Tata Capital’s extensive presence and expertise in financial services to provide support for its customers evaluating opportunities in the country as well as those operating in the market, according to a release.

The partnership comes as Japanese businesses increasingly look to India for growth across manufacturing, sales, sourcing and research and development.

The collaboration follows Resona Bank’s $20-million commitment as a limited partner in Tata Capital Growth Fund III LP, which invests in Tata Capital Growth Fund III, managed by Tata Capital.

Tata Capital, the Tata Group’s flagship financial services platform, had net assets under management of around $29.3 billion as of March 31, 2026. The company operates 1,477 branches across 27 states and Union Territories and has around 8.4 million customers.

Resona Bank is a core banking subsidiary of Resona Holdings. As of March 2026, the group had total assets of about 77 trillion yen ($480 billion). It has more than 800 branches and serves around 500,000 corporate customers.
